Paul is a true missionary. He wants to share Jesus where no one else has gone, but he knows he can't do it alone. He needs the body of Christ. In Romans 15, Paul invites us to consider three important truths about unity in Jesus through life in the Spirit: God unites us in hope. God unites us in mission. God unites us in prayer.

Speaking this week is our Children's Pastor. What separates us from one another? And what does it take to cross the distance? Sometimes distance is measured in physical space, but sometimes it is created by shame, fear, hurt, difference, power, or the stories we tell about one another. Sometimes we are the ones who create the distance. Sometimes we inherit it. And sometimes we find ourselves standing on the other side of a distance we don't understand. Through the story of Zacchaeus, we will explore the distances that separate us, the God who moves toward us, and what might happen when an encounter with divine embrace changes the way we see -- and move toward one another.

Speaking this week our Worship pastor. For this we reference Isaiah 6:1-8. Verse eight in this iconic passage about Isaiah's commission has been widely celebrated and given high praise for being willing to be sent by God for mission. The question we must ask our ourselves is whether this is the focal point and theological center of the chapter, or is there something greater that God wants to unveil to us, that if we miss it, all together disqualifies us for mission? To find out, come at 11am this Sabbath and see what God will speak to us.

Speaking this week our Lead Pastor. Jesus tells parables as they are familiar stories that invite His listeners to reflect on new insight. In Matthew 13, Jesus tells parables about the Kingdom of Heaven, which also reveal His understanding of heaven. He reveals three truths: the kingdom of heaven is forged in humility, flourishes in humanity, and lasts forever but starts now.

Speaking this week is our Lead Pastor. As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country, we are reminded of our common story. Jesus invites us into His story also. He is still at work for good in us but wants us to know we can live with hope for the future. We will have an opportunity at the end of the age to see the goodness of God in our lives and those we love.

Communion Sabbath is a weird one. We admit we're all a little screwed up, and then we're surprised when someone else's dirt gets on us. This week we're going to sit with that paradox and ask what it actually looks like to follow Jesus into the mess.

Speaking this week is Union Adventist University's Chaplain. The disciples were worn out from their time of ministry and come back to Jesus hoping for a break, but more people come in need. What if our rest and peace is not found in a retreat, vacation, place, or season of life when things are perfect...but instead in a person, and His name is Jesus?

Speaking this week is our Lead Pastor. Jesus intentionally delays responding to the invitation to heal Lazarus, knowing he will die, but Jesus knows this is not the end of the story, In this story, we find three truths about death that become clear when I know and choose Jesus. Jesus has already defeated death (because Jesus has already defeated sin).Jesus raises the dead back to life (all of them).Jesus transforms the dead in Christ (from mortal flesh to immortal spirit). 

Speaking this week is our Lead Pastor. Jesus IS coming again. Every parable Jesus tells invites us to live as if Jesus is coming again. This week we focus on Jesus' parable of the two sons in Matthew 21. When I believe Jesus is coming again, I can live with principle. I can live with purpose. And I can live with peace. Jesus' words don't limit my freedom. They direct me into real freedom.
