It's been a while! We are still in the process of writing, taking somewhat a summer break for a bit. We have been at this script since February 1st, 2021 and we are so excited to have you with us! Enjoy some intense few pages!
For our 10th episode, we are sharing a bit of our screenplay with you! Catch David read off a scene that he recently wrote, along with some great discussion before and afterwards. We have over 40 pages written, so keep rooting us on as we develop this script to eventually be pitched to Universal Studios! The current owners to the rights of Cape Fear.
SORRY FOR THE DELAY - here we discuss some elements that are darker in nature, and may not be suitable for all audiences!
NOT for the sensitive and light hearted, we are creating this script that covers subjects such as mental disease and mental illness. #capefear #screenplay #film
This episode takes place just minutes after presenting 5 pages, that each of us had written - individually! We have 10 pages written, we hope to have 20 pages by this coming week! WE ARE SO EXCITED! Huge shoutout to @RaidersOf heLostPodcast & Writer Duet for their providing of the collaboration, through their offered writing software. So amazing.
Today we discuss our opening scene, with the intent of having an initial first 10 pages of our script! With the previous discussions and researching lending itself beautifully, to inform what goes on the page!
Writer Duet is an incredible writing software that allows David & I to collaborate on the writing, even though living in separate states!
I believe we have a strong opening in mind! Thank you for being with us!
As David & I present Character Bios, his is for Sam and mine is for Max, David through me a curveball! He pitches our story, aligned with the original 1962 film - in such a way, that would present it as a sequel, inside of a remake. The anti-Cape Fear story, that he and I had previously discussed. I'm hyped to see the progression of this idea!
Gregory Peck & Robert Mitchum, would essentially come back in the forms of Harrison Ford & Mel Gibson, adjusting the timeline... for inflation. Check out the bios that we created for each character, too. To help inform what we put on the page.
Today, we try to answer some important questions! Sorry if the conversation isn't always coherent, I try to edit it so that it's easy to follow. We tend to ramble and go off topic sometimes. It'd be easy to catch up, if you're just joining us now. We're five episodes in, and currently working on Character Bios for Sam Bowden & Max Cady. The two main characters in Cape Fear, which is the project we intend on telling through a modern lens. Thank you for being with us.
You can catch this episode in video form, or you're welcome to watch it here! I LOVE the discussion for today! David & I are also accepting video submissions, for ideas/input/critique from anyone listening! Engage with us! Thanks for being here.
If you'd like to follow along with the source material, you can find The Executioners (1957) - Cape Fear (1962) - and Cape Fear (1991) all online for relatively cheap! It may help you follow along with the character names, plot points, and comparison / contrasts that we do of the individual source material projects. Our idea is to have Sam Bowden be played by Harrison Ford, and Max Cady be played by Mel Gibson.
Sam Bowden is a lawyer, a family man. Been at it for half a decade, probably. Our idea is to have Sam Bowden be at the beginning stages of dementia, throughout this film. Causing issues in the process.
Max Cady is just released from prison, and yearns to exact revenge on the man responsible for putting him into prison; in the first place.
Thank you for being here.
