The verb “see” has many collocations. This podcast will introduce you to some of them.

Let’s begin.

Verb + See:

1) I could see the soldiers coming out of the woods.

2) We went to see the play “Hamlet” yesterday. I love Shakespeare’s plays!

3) We went to South Africa last year and I got to see lots of wild animals.

4) I turned around to see my father right behind me.

5) She was amazed to see Mary chatting with the King of England.

6) I am delighted to see you again after so many years. 

7) My mother would love to see me graduate from college.

8) I can’t wait to see who wins the Boston Marathon next year.

9) It is nice to see my grandchildren having fun together. 

10) John expects to see a salary increase next month.

Adverbs:

11) I could just see the airplane circling overhead.

12) The fog was so thick she could barely see me.

13) Robert could plainly see that the dog was injured.

14) They saw first-hand the crowds of tourists staring at the Mona Lisa.

15) We commonly see immigrant children translating for their parents.

Other phrases and expressions:

16) We’re looking for more employees. Come over to see me if you’re interested.

17) What do you want to see the doctor about?

18) I can see at a glance that you’re unhappy.

19) I’m going to Washington DC to see the President.

20) She never got a chance to see Hollywood when she was in California. 

21) My sister can see into the future. She said my future wife will be short, mean, and a bad cook.

22) I can’t see why you’re unhappy. You’re good-looking, rich, and smart. What more do you want?

23) I’ll go and see who’s ringing the doorbell.

24) “I see no reason to postpone the exam,” said the professor.

25) I see a strong resemblance between Mr. Johnson and his sons.
