Many of the things Christ asks of us are hard. Sainthood is hard. Marriage is hard. Loving others is hard. But, Jesus offers us a pathway through his Body and Blood and calls us to trust in Him and embrace the Cross.

Homily from the Twentieth Thursday of Ordinary Time

No one has ever known the breadth, width, and height of God's love more than Mary. She reveals Jesus to us and proclaims his greatness. Just as Mary ponders the actions and life of Christ, let us turn away from the distractions of our world and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and allow Him to be a light in our world.

"It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven"... Jesus calls us to simplify our lives and asks us to reflect on which possessions we try to drag with us. Whether physical, spiritual, or emotional, what attachments can we let go of that may be holding us back from heaven?

Through our lives, Jesus is constantly asking us to follow him in deeper ways. Today, the rich young man encounters Jesus and the call spiritual perfection through the Gospel.

Your plans can make you happy, but God's plans are what make you happiest. Mary's plan's did not involve being the Mother of God. But, God's plan for her changed the entire world. As we celebrate Mary's triumphant Assumption into heaven body and soul, we entrust our all of our desires and plans to Jesus through her, knowing that God's plan for us will bring us the ultimate happiness.
