So far in John, we have several examples of poor responses to Jesus. This passage is a wonderful, positive example of how Christ’s sheep hear his voice.

There is certainly more to the story after the discourse, but we will focus on the final words between the two, which culminates in the Lord telling the woman with profound and gracious clarity just who he is. The story of the Samaritan woman, which began with a deep hopelessness ends with an overflowing hopefulness and joy.

This Sunday, we will return again to John 4:24. Why does God insist that we worship him in truth? That is, how is the truth that is Jesus Christ necessary for worship? I hope this message will give us a great appreciation for the privilege Christ gives us to worship the Triune God.
