Teachers from kindergarten to college had to adapt to this unexpected occurrence.

Students of Columbia College Chicago Audio Documentary class explore their lives during the pandemic.

In this episode, nine students from the Communication Department of Columbia College Chicago will present stories crossing cultures and generations. From as immigrant from a small town in Mexico talks with his daughter about his decision to leave for Chicago at age 16, to a grandmother talking about the loss of her brothers in WWII these stories will bring us a little more closer.

In this episode, five students from the Communication Department of Columbia College Chicago will present stories, crossing cultures and generations to share and preserve personal history. From a member of the gospel group, The Joy Lights, traveling America in the 1970s and 80s to a mother and daughter having to go to great lengths to survive in the city, these stories bring us closer through understanding.

When was the last time you told a story? What are those stories that your family tells at every gathering? Life stories are not only fascinating, but they are important because they reinvent, reform and refashion personal and collective identities. Stories bring to light different communities, practices and purpose women-identified people inhabit, create and participate in.

Produced by students in the UnSung Heroines Class in the Spring 2020, these stories provides us the opportunity to reflect upon cultural assumptions, to consider similarities and differences between diverse cultures and our own experiences And to question issues of identity, power and marginalization. Through these we rely on the wide range of Women’s life stories in Chicago and Beyond establishing between the local and the global, the personal and the collective generation to generation.

Students worked throughout the semester to define heroism, Identifying unknown heroines and bringing them to the forefront by telling their stories. The result is an eloquent testament to many facets in which creativity, love, determination and strength manifests.

Students of the Covering Elections Course update us on the outcome and on-going count of the 2020 election from Illinois House races to the Presidential Race.

A collaborative student documentary created at the beginning of the world-wide coronavirus Pandemic and authored by the radio and audio documentary capstone class at Columbia College Chicago. It includes several stories of everyday people dealing with the effects of virus, including families dealing with members who’ve contracted Covid-19, medical professionals, first responders, a woman trying to raise a toddler, athletes with dreams on hold, an immigrant family, conspiracy theories and graduating students facing uncertain futures.

Radio Stories is a collection of audio documentaries from Students at Columbia College Chicago. This episode of Radio Stories sent the students out into the world to document somebody else’s experience. Hear about maintaining an animal boarding facility, an account of homelessness, the tournament scene for a popular video game, what therapists do to destress, and much more in this episode of Radio Stories.
