The last 10 years have seen a dramatic rise in new young female playwrights. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and is likely one that we will return to. This week we look at four plays from the last 10 years that challenge form and present new ideas with ferocity, and anger.

Sarah Kane was born in 1971. Her first play BLASTED was produced at the Royal Court in 1995. She produced the remainder of her work: PHAEDRA'S LOVE, CLEANSED, CRAVE, and 4.48 Psychosis between 1996 - 2000. Sarah Kane died in 1999. Unlike anyone else you'll ever read, fearless and brutal.
