🦆 Muscovy Duck
I didn’t know what they were at first.
That’s the honest beginning of it.
For a couple of years, watching them move through the neighborhood—through the ponds and the sidewalks and the edges of these very intentionally designed Florida communities—I couldn’t place them. They had the feet, yes. The waddle, technically. But something didn’t line up. They didn’t register as “duck” in the way my brain wanted them to.
They were something else.
And then you realize: they are ducks. Just not the kind you’ve been trained to recognize.
⸻
Muscovy ducks aren’t originally from Florida at all. They come from Central and South America, freshwater birds that lived along rivers and wetlands long before any of this—before retention ponds, before planned neighborhoods, before the idea of shaping water to behave.
They were domesticated in Mesoamerica, long before European arrival. Not industrially. Not in the way we think of domestication now. More like… lived with. Used, yes—for meat, eggs, feathers—but not completely reshaped. They kept their structure.
And you can feel that.
They didn’t get rounded off.
⸻
Florida suits them, though. Warm, wet, full of these man-made water systems that mimic something real enough to sustain life. So they stayed. Or they were released, or escaped, and then stayed. And now there are so many of them that they feel like they’ve always been here.
But they haven’t.
They’ve just adapted quickly—and without changing who they are.
⸻
What struck me wasn’t just how they looked, though that’s the first thing anyone notices.
It’s the face.
Not feathered. Not softened. Red, textured, exposed. The kind of face that doesn’t ask to be liked. It’s closer to a turkey than to what most people think of when they think “duck,” and even that comparison only gets you halfway there.
It doesn’t read as ancient, exactly.
It reads as unfiltered.
Like something that skipped the step where animals get shaped into something more pleasing to look at.
⸻
But more than how they look—it’s how they move through space.
They don’t hide.
They don’t scatter the way other ducks do. They don’t panic when you get close. They’ll just… keep walking. Right past you. Around you. Among you.
There’s no performance of fear.
And there’s no performance of friendliness either.
They’re not coming up to you because they want something.
They’re just there.
⸻
And that’s where it gets interesting.
Because most animals, especially in human environments, either avoid us or depend on us. They either retreat or they adapt in a way that becomes obvious—behavior shifts, patterns change, something softens or sharpens in response to us.
Muscovies don’t quite do that.
They live in the system, but they don’t mirror it.
They walk through neighborhoods the same way they would move along a riverbank. They use the space, but they don’t seem shaped by it.
They coexist without fully participating.
⸻
If you want to talk about them symbolically—and there isn’t a long, formal tradition around Muscovy ducks specifically, not like there is with some animals—you have to go off what they actually are and what they actually do.
And what they do is this:
They are visible.
Completely visible.
Without adjusting themselves to be more acceptable, more familiar, more recognizable.
They don’t need to fit the category you have for them in order to exist in front of you.
⸻
They also move between environments without losing their center.
Water, land, even trees—they’re not locked into one way of being. But they’re not scattered either. They’re not constantly reacting to what’s around them.
They respond, when needed.
Otherwise, they just continue.
⸻
And maybe the simplest way to say it is this:
They don’t try to belong.
They just are.
And somehow, they still manage to live right alongside everything else.
⸻
That’s what stood out to me, walking among them here.
Not that they were ancient.
Not that they were mystical.
Just that they were completely, unapologetically themselves—
in a place where almost everything else has been shaped to be something else.
⸻
Muscovy Duck — Unfiltered Living
You have been shaped by so many hands. So many voices telling you what you should look like, how you should move, what version of yourself is acceptable enough to be seen. And somewhere in all of that shaping, you started to believe that belonging required becoming something smaller.
The Muscovy Duck does not do this.
It walks into the middle of everything — the neighborhoods, the retention ponds, the carefully curated landscapes — and it does not adjust its face. It does not soften its edges. It does not perform friendliness or fear. It simply continues, in full visibility, exactly as it is.
This card is asking you where you are still rounding yourself off.
Where are you making yourself more recognizable so that someone else feels comfortable? Where are you hiding the unfiltered face — the real texture of you — because you decided it was too much?
The blue heron stands on the bank in this card. Patient. Watching. That is your ancestral line holding witness to this moment. They are not asking you to be palatable. They are asking you to be real.
Unfiltered living is not the same as unhealed living. It does not mean you stop growing. It means you stop shrinking.
You are not here to fit the category someone else made for you.
You are here to walk through the middle of it all, fully visible, fully yourself, and keep moving.

Guided Spirit Animal Medicine Session
As we move into the warmer months and step back outside onto the land, I’m bringing these sessions back to the property.
A Guided Spirit Animal Medicine Session is a four-hour shamanic healing experience where I channel the spirit guide animals that are currently active in your guidance. I meet you in real time with sound medicine, sound healing, and clearing work specific to where you are right now.
Two of those four hours are active—present with you, channeling, creating. The other two hours, I’m doing deep shamanic work: creating custom music and sound medicine specifically calibrated to your energy, your guides, your healing in this moment. That music is channeled for you alone.
These sessions are best held outdoors on the property, where the land can hold and amplify the work. You’ll meet your guides. You’ll feel them move through your body. You’ll leave changed.
Four hours. 188 dollars. Book through Acuity.
What are you going to do with what you see?
Walk as. Don’t wait for.
Today is zero day.

What’s Coming to Magic Mushrooms in the Crystal Garden
Fairy House Brunch — April 19
We’re gathering on Sunday, April 19th from 9 in to noon. I’ll be sourcing materials from Merlin’s Woods and from the magic I find here in Florida — things that call to the Fey. We’ll be building fairy houses and fairy scenes for your altar, creating a physical space to recognize and work with the Fey beings that live alongside us. I’ve had many encounters with them on this property and in other places. You’ll leave with materials, lunch, and a blessed home for the Fey.
Seven spots left. $88. Sign up through Acuity.

Megalodon Tooth Mini Retreat — May 3
Lynette and I are holding space from 10 - 4 in on May 3rd. You’ll wrap your own Megalodon tooth amulet — connected to that ancient apex predator, to the power that lived when the world was different, to the sovereignty that moves through deep time. You’re making something to wear, to carry, to anchor into that frequency. Dedication ceremony and drum circle are part of the work. Bring your drum!
$111. Sign up through Acuity.

Arkansas Crystal Mining Retreat — June 25 through 29
One spot left. We’re staying in a home in Arkansas, mining Quartz in its source, learning what the formations actually mean based on what you pull from the earth. We’re diving into Lyran, Numerian, and Atlantean lineage work — the oversoul grade of your own history. Lodging and content all included. Gas, food, incidentals extra.
$888. Photos of the home are on the Facebook page. That trip is already booked. It’s happening. Message me to claim!
The Unburned — Salem, Massachusetts — September
I need eight people to say yes within the next thirty days. If I don’t have eight committed by then, this trip moves to something smaller, closer to home, more intimate and guided.
But if you want to go to Salem with me — if you want to walk that ground, do that work, be part of that container — you need to let me know now.
Thirty days. Eight people. That’s what it takes.
Sessions
The schedule is open through June. Spirit animal medicine sessions, guided sessions, oracle work, sound healing, shamanic clearing — eighty eight dollars an hour or less, depending on what you’re looking for. If you have a group, the cost drops even further.
ALL SESSIONS AND SHOPPING
If you can’t access anything else right now, there’s the $8 a month Substack with almost daily content. This includes the 114 week journey through the Gospel of Thomas and much MORE exclusively channeled content!
