Howdy boys and girls! This episode was a blast, I got to hangout with the super Cody Woods! He has appeared on Hulu, Season 3 of Comedy Central’s Hart of the City, The Comedy Shaq Network, as well as the Emmy nominated show, Mind Field. He has wanted to be a comedian since he was a kid. Coming from a bleak upbringing with a single mother in a trailer, he frequently switched schools while often finding himself being the ethnic minority in his classes and used his humor to win friends and prevent bullying. Over the years Cody has opened for Dave Attell, Paul Mooney, Tom Segura, Bruce Bruce, Charlie Murphy, Steve O, Todd Glass, and many more. In 2014 he toured for the USO entertaining the troops in Japan as well as the NACA college circuit. In 2015 he was a finalist in the Cabo San Lucas Comedy Festival. Cody continues to tour 36 weeks out of the year and is set for his Comedy Central debut in the winter of 2019.

Howdy boys and girls! On this episode I got to hangout with my buddy Rick Bruner who is the general manager of the Virginia Beach Funny Bone. It was a lot of fun talking to him and picking his brain on everything.

We talked about what it has been like for Rick to watch this business change, progress, and evolve. Ridley and I got to talk about and breakdown his bit about “Shitty roommates” and lemme tell ya.....it’s a good one. Ridley has been doing comedy for about 5 years now, and the dude is a machine when it comes to the regular open mic circuit here. He’s no stranger to what it feels like walking away with that sweet sweet victory......and the money!(a lot of our mics in this area are contest mics with prizes ranging from 25 dollars all the way up to 100 dollars....just for an open mic!)

This episode was recorded at the Virginia Beach funny bone on New Year’s Eve after Godfrey had one hell of a show! I highly recommend if you’ve never seen him and he comes to your city/town/whatever that you get your life together and go see him!

Godfrey has decades worth of standup as well as acting under his belt, he really is a chameleon when it comes to becoming multiple people in his act!

And not only does he nail every impression but he has a natural talent of being able to seamlessly transition between multiple characters, actouts, and voices over multiple bits but he does it with finesse every time. When I asked him about it, he said his goal has and always will be to have material to backup the characters and vice versa. He really is a good person to watch just to absorb and learn from!

Godfrey is a regular at the world famous Comedy Cellar so I figured why not use a bit from a show he recently did there!
