This week is The Jack Benny Program episode, Charlie Chan in Radio City. JELL-O was the new sponsor to the program. This episode aired November 11, 1934 on the Blue Network (NBC Radio).
ALERT: An early program -- the quality is not the best and includes scratches and blips. Also, this is an edited program with the music parts removed. Going forward, I'll air clearer productions from the JB program.
Program includes: 'News of the Week,' Jack "interviews" J. Barrett Wimpole a "Shakespearean" actor. Also, the cast does, "Charlie Chan In Radio City."
Charlie Chan was a popular fictional mystery novel & movie detective character at the time, famously played by white actor, Warner Oland. Charlie Chan was a (most would now agree a racist) stereotype of Chinese people at the time.
