On today’s Comfort Kills episode, our guest spent her entire childhood and adolescence battling weight gain and, ultimately, bulimia and depression. As an adult, she later found several tools to help her manage weight, including gastric bypass surgery, years of antidepressants and counseling. In 2017, however, her mother finished her 5 year fight with breast cancer, and she finally sat down and truly walked through all the pain and anxiety, and emerged 18 months later, as if from a crucible, with a new life philosophy - Intentional Optimism.

Growing up with autism created many obstacles for today’s guest. Growing up, doctors told Jimmy Clare's parents that he will not be able to walk without braces or crutches. He was bullied all throughout school when he then stood up to all the bullies and got some of them expelled. Jimmy just keeps proving people wrong with his persistence time after time again. On top of those obstacles, he lives with spinal stenosis every day. Every day Jimmy continues to better himself by working out 6 to 9 times a week. three days a week he practices kickboxing while on the other days he works out on Beachbody on Demand. He was heavily into gangs, drugs, and violence beginning at the age of 14. He was locked up 3 times – once in juivie, once in the state prison, and just finished 9 years in the FEDS. Upon taking classes in prison, he learned that he owed it to himself to now live a rational and open minded life as a free man! He is here today to share his story, wishing he had someone in his life who had done the same when he was young. He is ready for his second chance to live a normal life. He’s here to share his story with the world, in hopes that young kids will hear his message and pursue a different path than he took.
