Silk Road Productions and the Fangaea (fan-JEE-uh) team are excited to announce the coming of the first-ever Fangaea Con – where fandoms join forces for fun! The inaugural Fangaea Con will be taking place on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23 at the Town & Country Resort in Mission Valley, San Diego!
This new and exciting event will feature a diverse and inclusive range of fan and pop culture interests like anime, cosplay, science fiction, virtual reality, video games, comic books, Dungeons and Dragons, card games, martial arts, and so much more! Our entertainment line-up will also feature an eclectic ensemble from video game music cover bands to Japanese taiko drumming and from medieval combat to Chinese lion dancers!
Our special guest for the first-ever Fangaea will be Derek Stephen Prince, known for his work in Power Rangers, Digimon, Cowboy Bebop, and Naruto, as well as in video games Kingdom Hearts; and our other special guest will be Chris Patton, known for voicing titles for every major dubbing studio in the US, including Funimation, Bang Zoom, Okratron 5000, ADV Films, and Sentai.
Fangaea’s programming activities will include a General Panel series with topics for fans of Japanese anime, stunt fighting, cosplay, and other fun stuff. Our Cerebral Panel series will have more esoteric and compelling topics bound to be memorable, such as Cyberbullying, LGBTs in the geek and nerd world, Afrofuturism, and more. Our Dynamic Room will have blocks of interactive and immersive experiences that change inside the room – including virtual reality, an escape room, model building, a photo shoot for cosplayers, and death metal karaoke! We also have an entire room dedicated to video games with old and new consoles, and another room dedicated to table top games and card games!
In addition to an exciting vendor and exhibit hall with collectibles, figurines, apparel, and other cool stuff, we will have a Sci Fi Museum, presented by the Sci Fi Coalition and an innovative VR set up by STEAM Maker. The Mochi Café will have a special presentation with games and Japanese influenced entertainment. The Fangaea Featured Artist gallery will have some of the most talented artists displaying their work – from the quirky to the strange and just outright cool, our selected artists will impress!
Fangaea is an all-inclusive fan space for all ages. Tickets are on sale now, and there is a special children’s ticket for only $10 for kids under 12. Adults can get a single day ticket for only $20.
