Comic Geek Speak Presents: The Crisis Tapes

We pause now in our ongoing analysis of the Crisis on Infinite Earths maxiseries for a brief intermission following 'Act I' (issues 1-4), during which a variety of Crisis-related short subjects will be presented. From forgotten tie-ins to recent references to vintage fan-press articles to collections and merchandising, Peter and Adam mete out a melange of multiversal morsels to tide you over until the antimatter curtain rises on Crisis 5. It's an all Crisis Talk episode for our first Interlude. Que l'entr'acte commence! (2:59:41)

As Peter and Adam resume their riotous rundown of Crisis on Infinite Earths with issue 4 part 1, time is running out for Earth-1 and Earth-2, and it's already run out for Earth-6! Firestorm and Killer Frost face chaos in Camelot, Supergirl and Red Tornado make their grand entrances into the story destined to change them forever, Batgirl is having a crisis of faith, we meet Lady Quark, see an early appearance of John Constantine in the DCU, and the heroes of Earth-1 witness the illuminating introduction of the new Doctor Light! (2:43:43)

The forces of oblivion press on across DC Universe timespace, from World War II Markovia to the American Old West to 30th Century Metropolis, as more heroes meet their doom! Meanwhile, your hosts share some speculation about the upcoming DC Rebirth special event! (3:06:45)

Mysteries deepen and suspense heightens as the battle for the Monitor's towers spills over into World War II! Guest-starring the Flash (he's not QUITE dead!), Batman and the Outsiders, the New Teen Titans, the 'New' Brainiac, and a platoon of classic DC war heroes! Also in this episode, hear Peter's thoughts on the recent Flash/Supergirl TV crossover! (2:55:44)

The Monitor's mighty vibratory towers, last hope for the multiverse's survival, are under attack in Arion's Atlantis and in Kamandi's home amid 'The Great Disaster,' and the Monitor's interdimensional agents issue forth to defend them. Will they prevail? Can Harbinger resist the urge to betray the Monitor? Whose side is Psycho-Pirate on? And what's eating the Luthor boy from Earth-3? No time for questions; just download this episode of The Crisis Tapes! (2:40:25)

The Monitor's 'Great Fifteen' original multiversal defenders have been summoned and gathered and are now aboard the Monitor's satellite to be briefed on their dire, life-or-death mission, while far below on Earth-One, the first cracks in time and space begin to appear! It's the beginning of the end for the mainstream DC Universe, and Rios and Murdough are there to comment on the chaos in Crisis on Infinite Earths issue 2 part 1! (3:06:30)

Faster than a speeding shadow-demon, Peter and Adam return with their thoughts and observations concerning the second half of Crisis #1. Thrill to the summoning of the Monitor's first team of champions from two-or-so Earths--then sit back and enjoy your hosts' 'draft analysis'! (3:00:51)

Not a dream! Not a hoax! Not a retcon! The Crisis Tapes are back with a vengeance, as Adam Murdough and Peter Rios (that's right, BOTH of 'em!) finally turn their analytical attention to the first issue of the Crisis maxi-series itself, just in time for the 30th anniversary of its publication! Observations will be made, thesis excerpts will be read, and this podcast will never be the same again! (2:08:47)

Twenty-five months later, The Crisis Tapes return! Concluding our examination of 1984, the final pre-Crisis year, through the lens of the multiple Monitor cameos planted throughout the DC Comics publishing line during that year. Featured are issues of Batman, DC Comics Presents, Superman, G.I. Combat, Jonah Hex, and The Warlord. (3:06:36)
