Why was the original anime film being talked up so much in advance of the live-action version?  Because the source manga is highly overrated.

A comic with quality sex and substance?  Yes, such a thing does exist!

The new movie is great.  As for the comics which helped inspire it, well...

John Layman and Rob Guillory's great, demented series comes to an end and I try to find out if the series was well-planned enough to make its ending work.

The original series is a justified classic, while its long-delayed sequel manages a few redeeming qualities.

By most people's standards, he's the next big thing in comic book writing.  Not mine, however.

Hickman!  Kirkman!  Mignola!  Matsui!  Gillen (x2)!  Tsubaki!  All of these creators and more can be found on my list.
