Welcome back true believers! As well as you right there nonbeliever? You ready to sit you ass back down for another slice of Lisa Vasquez of my favorite band and yours... Pizza Stains? Our Legacy friend comes back into the makeshift studio inside the lovely Nostalgic Comics. To hang out and have MORE pizza. Its what we do.
On the comeback with her 2-piece band The Pizza Stains. They have been Playing local gigs in and around Los Angeles. Playing shows with her awesome friends likeDrac & the Swamp Rats. Shoot, she has even been seen with Gabe the sasquatch in the San Gabriel area.
So, what we talk about this issue? Well Lisa gives us a glimpse on what she has been up to and we tell her about Becky the ghosts musings. We go down bit of a rabbit hole of conspiracies. Lisa even brings us an interesting tidbit about the great ZoSo himself, Jimmy Page and his correlation to the late great occultist, Aleister Crowley.
While Lisa is a one-of-a-kind individual, it is also safe to say she is also one of the hardest working. Currently Lisa is working on a new song for the pizza stains and hopes to debut it at their next show. When is the next show you ask? Well I’m glad I asked for you. Pizza stains has a show coming up on April 8th, 2023, at the Old Town Pasadena Pub. Get there early they play at 8pm.

The fundamentals for a fabulous February. Get through it and call it March! A forth of the year is just wrapping up and what have you done with your year? Well, I fear that we are facing a problem. You love mentioning that you are getting busy but no longer know what that involves. As we grow closer to the year ending for this cast of post we know as comicentric I’m am thinking perhaps a break. Or perhaps a reconstruction of the whole thing.
I have no idea what is next. I do want to grow this channel. But into what? I don’t know. I just enjoy shooting the shit with everyone that has come through and sat with us for a hour or two and talked about this and especially when they talk about that.
Sometimes I think what are we doing here? Are we making a difference in our 6 to 8 weekly listeners a week? I don’t know. Then I’m reminded of why I started this to find out if people are weird or if weird people read comics. And thus I have been lead to no conclusion and the lack of evidence in either direction has lead me to perhaps seek other ventures to answer that question. But how does one revamp something just started?
These questions and more will not be answered on this podcast but are food for thought. I think we talk about remaking Kolchak the night stalker, found footage, mark Thompson and Nazis on and in the moon. So, weird shit regardless of where you get it from we here for you.

As far as nostalgia goes, we are always burdened with the issue of should it go on. How else is it going to become nostalgic if we don’t let it sit on the shelf unperturbed for decades. waiting for the day when our brains get a little hint of old dopamine that once permutated our skulls. We go looking for that what we shelved and life on the memory of the dopamine released at that time. It’s just our way to make ourselves feel good.
Now let’s say you shelf this nostalgic memory and someone comes along and they make a continuation … a sequel …. Or universe forbid… a reboot. You will quickly try to defend that what you deem rightfully yours. Your memories are precious, and you don’t want them soiled by any means.
what happens when your childhood becomes public domain and thrusted into a horror movie? Well at this is a neat crossroads, we get Horror Pooh: Blood & Honey. Who is left in charge of something that can now be interpreted in any which way? No one and that’s what makes Horror Pooh : Blood & Honey such a trip of a movie. You mix the enduring qualities of a slasher flick with the childhood nostalgia of characters that you grew up with and you get a mix so delicious you just want to put it in a honey pot.
I propose to you what happens when you domesticate that what shouldn’t be. You build trust with what you think are your friends. Live love and laugh for them was a way of life. Never doubting each other and their trust. But let’s say that one day you just decide to leave and these friends you have been nursing and nurturing. They are left alone to fend for themselves. In WtP: Blood and honey the creatures of ‘100 acre wood’ learned to fend for themselves.
Learning how to be alone I the world without a guide you trusted for many years can be terrifying and a daunting task. So much so that you are bound to eat... umm.. Make some mistakes along the way. Thus, twisting one’s psyche. Learning to fend for yourself after years and getting a taste for meat in the middle of the forest only gives you limited options when it comes to survival.
Forward time a while and you return to find those friends that you cared for have turned, and worse yet they have turned the love they had for you into full on hatred and blood lust. The tropes of a horror movie and the usage of beloved characters makes this a unique amalgam of a movie. The weirdness and charm of this movie are only a biproduct of that what can become when we leave our childhood unattended.

Where is the line that one crosses and goes from being a collection becomes a pack rat? At what point is it too much? I say too much because it’s never enough. It just becomes too much and sometimes you need to clear house and set aside what you truly love to bring out what else is hidden behind that enormous collection years in the making.
It takes you years to develop into who you are, and, in these years, you tend to hold on to things that eventually help make you who you will become. Some people collect music. Some people collect stamps. It's not unnatural to surround ourselves with things that we like and give us comfort. But that dopamine seems not to last long. That we go out and we get another album. Another set of stamps. Just to get that rush. Soon enough if left uncontrolled you can start building your furniture with the boxes you have accumulated.
As adults we can buy what we couldn’t as children. Saving for the future is the most adult thing you could do. But remember you are living in the present. And why not get yourself one? I get it, it’s an excuse to be thoughtful to yourself. Build a collection get surrounded by it. Build a nest that reflects what you feel inside. A place where your history is told by the objects that surround you. The cool kids call it the fortress of solitude.

Welcome to February first and on this episode, we go off on the longest tangent. You know how tangents start at one point that has no point at all. Like Darkwing Duck is the best pulp hero in the world. He had a rogue’s gallery that made his life impossible. He had to put up with that and a child that was always getting into trouble. Masked avenger during the night, unappreciated parent by day. He’s a true hero. But that’s my opinion. and sometimes opinions are like donkeys they are not mules. They are a strong diligent idiot worker hybrid. I once rode one in Mexico. Then we shot a lizard and ate it in soup. But all the time I didn’t miss the Disney afternoon. There was this market that had pogs that had cartoon characters. My favorite where the tiny toon ones. I even had slammers. I’ve only been to prison once. And it was more of a holding situation. So, I guess I’ve never been to prison. it be a waste of tax money. and I bet I can find a better thing to spend that money,

Welcome and thank you for tuning in to Comicentrics telethon the lines are now open...
This time around we have our returning pal Nathaniel Osollo, eyedraugh, he comes back for the second time but for the first time in this new year.
He is, in my opinion, one of the hardest working independent artist out there. Trying to make the dream happen. When he is not building gallery walls out of unused doors... he is working on his next project, Dark Mouse Ink. Nathaniel has started crowd funding has been started to support this up incoming venture. This campaign that saw its initial launch at Nostalgic comics on January 4th, 2023, Where Nathaniel got together with fellow artist Brenda Chi and Mark Martinez for some comics making discussion and some good chicken.
If you weren’t there you missed out. But Nathaniel comes back to talk to us more in dept about the crowdfunding campaign and how you can get in on helping with his campaign and how you can score some sweet art.
So, run don’t walk to Crowd Fundr and help make magic happen. Or send the link to your rich uncle. Also Don’t forget you can come down to Nostalgic comics and see some of Nathaniel art on display until the end of January or we decide we are tired of looking at it.

Water, water everywhere lets all have a drink. We haven’t had rain like this in a while. As far back as I could remember the rain was always a sign that things where becoming to mundane. The repetitive nature of being a child and going to school 5 days a week and being that little mouse on the wheel. When the rains came the days where not the same. Things would slow down. The background changed and rearranged the scene.
To fight the boredom inside and play Board games. But every so often you would let loose and just go run in the water. Whether it was coming home from school and unavoidable drenching or the I need to go get Cheetos at the further market cause … you wanted to get wet.
Rain is a cleanser it washes away the impurity's. Cleans our trees from the dust they have accumulated and the wind can not blow away. After the rain the tree is renewed and rejuvenated. Is able to photosynthesis with greater resolve.
California needed the rain. Or so they been saying. And now that we have it. We complain its too much. When it comes to weather we are like a 'Specter', never satisfied. I often tell people go to the 'Casino Royal' to get out off the rain, cause this is 'No Time To Diet' of hypothermia. And while you complain ill head to my 'Quantum of Solace' and cuddle up with some Sopita and my San Marcos and wait for the 'Sky To Fall'. ... ...
oh right we also talk glass onion aHHHlot!!
