Comics Are My Happy Place

Colin is joined by Henry Widdicombe - founder of Mach Fest the best comedy festival in the UK and now a comics writer himself. They discuss smelly long boxes, sanding and break ups. But more importantly the Braddock Family Tree - Betsy AKA Psylocke, Brian AKA Captain Britain and Jamie AKA Jamie. But who will come out top in the continuing long and entirely pointless list of the greatest Marvel characters ever!

David Reed takes another break from his new musical to chat with Colin once again about the Summers family. We meet Scott & Alex's batshit secret bro Vulcan and his ill fated pals Darwin and Sway. Plus take a trip with the most midlife crisising of all Space Pirates - Corsair and the Starjammers. But where will these sort of heroes fit in the pantheon of our Favourite Marvel Character.

Best buds Colin and Nick are back reviewing every Marvel Character with an Ironheart special. They've seen about 1.5 eps of the new series and...it's fine. But who is Ironheart? Has she captured our shrivelled middle aged man hearts? And before that: who is the real Tony Stark? Did he ever soil his iron suit? Does he listen to Eric Clapton and Chris Rea? Is Iron Monger the maddest baddest of them all?

It's a fun episode although Colin is in a hotel designed to make it impossible for a human to comfortably reach the desk from his bed and it shows!

Our little run of special guests continues as Nick welcomes comedian Colleen Cheetham-Gerrard (previously a Marvel correspondent herself) to take a look at the many people who have also proved worthy of hefting a mystical hammer and taking up the mantle of the God of Thunder Thor, namely the most famous of the alternates Jane Foster (of course), as well Beta Ray Bill, Thunderstrike and probably the greatest of them all, Dargo Ktor (no, us neither). Is that horse-faced alien really just called Bill? Who is desperate for Thunderstrike to be a thing? And why does Odin keep churning out knock-off Mjolnirs for anyone that fancies being a Thor? Join us and find out!

Everything you need to know about the X-man called...Cyclops.

Colin is joined by special guest David Reed, a brilliant actor and comedian known for his marvellous live and radio shows with sketch group The Penny Dreadfuls.

We talk everything Scott Summers - how do his eye lids work? Is he just a big old stick in the mud? That was a very convenient laser gun that suddenly appeared?

Plus we discover he's forever in the shadows of his brother Alex AKA Havoc (we wanted to do Vulcan and yes Adam X but ran out of time!)

Everything you need to know about Alpha Flight! (Well, half of them anyway...)

Nick and special guest David Ferguson (of Believe? The Myths And Conspiracies Pod) are trekking back to the 80s to take a deep dive into Canada's premier (only?) super hero team, Alpha Flight. Will they fare any better than the last time they were talked about on the pod? Did Civil War usher in the basic loss of clearcut heroism in the Marvel universe? And which of them is basically a synthetic Magneto?

Everything you need to know about Marvel's Olympians

This week, Jamie and Nick get classical as they take a look at the mighty figures of Greek myth who inhabit the Marvel universe. Will they get mixed up between Greek and Roman mythologies? Will there be an unexpectedly graphic description of how Aphrodite came to be? And who is the super secret special guest that joins them drunk about halfway through?
