  • Class 4 – “True Worship” with Fr. Jason Schumer
In this class, Fr. Schumer shares how and why liturgy changes over time.
What is the liturgy and how to do we navigate the tide of opinions?  And if the liturgy is so important, why has it changed so much in the last fifty years? Isn’t this an anomaly in the history of the Church? What do the documents of Vatican II really teach about the liturgy and its development?

  • Class 1 – “True Worship” with Fr. Jason Schumer
What is the liturgy and how to do we navigate the tide of opinions?  And if the liturgy is so important, why has it changed so much in the last fifty years? Isn’t this an anomaly in the history of the Church? What do the documents of Vatican II really teach about the liturgy and its development?
In this first class, Fr. Schumer gives an introduction to the liturgy as public worship and an exercise as the priestly office of Christ. The liturgy allows us to use our senses to experience the sacred.  He references the Catechism, Mediator Dei, Sacrosanctum Concilium, and Vagaggini’s Theological Dimensions of the Liturgy.

  • Day 2 – “The Seven Virtues” with Fr. Paul Hoesing
In this episode, Fr. Hoesing defines the virtues as a sharing in the life of the Lord and begins to share the dynamic of relational prayer.

He uses the formation of the dignity of the human person to explain how our faculties (reason, will, and appetites), their objects (truth, goodness, and beauty), and their perfected virtues play out in our spiritual life.
    Life In The Spirit
“The Holy Spirit! This is what is so missing from our Christian Catholic imaginations – especially in the west!” Father uses the scripture passage on Martha and Mary to explain how a life in the Spirit is necessary for living a virtuous life. Since we no longer have Jesus in our homes, it is necessary to have the Holy Spirit inspire us with a Christian life while we are working. The Catechism says that our vocation is life in the Spirit. From there the Catechism takes us to the virtues.
    Living From Our Soul
Father gives a prompt for the next lesson: Imagine someone that lives from their soul. Their faculties are working together properly. What are you moved to desire? List 4 or 5 attributes of these soulful people. The attributes you desire can show you where you are in need of conversion.

  • Day 1 – “The Seven Virtues” with Fr. Paul Hoesing
Can virtue be taught? That famous question from 5th century BC looms gigantic again in the 21st century of the Christian era.
    Virtues In the Modern Age
In medieval times, everyone knew the seven virtues. Nowadays it is rare to find a university student who can name them all.
The aim of this course is to help in the restoration of moral habits among the rising generation. Virtue signifies moral goodness; the practice of moral duties and the conformity of one’s life to the moral law; uprightness; rectitude. Join Fr. Hoesing as he provides a road map of virtue, a map for our earthly pilgrimage.
The course uses the text Peter Kreeft’s, “Back to Virtue”.
    In This Episode
Father Hoesing shares the context of the virtues, God’s invitation to share in His own blessed live, and the importance of beginning a discussion on virtue with how much God loves us.
