Here's a new combo to help you spin poi with more flow using these moves:

Overhand thread the needle

under the leg take outs in butterfly

5 beat weave turn around

front plane clockwise CAP

buzzsaw fountain turnaround (left)

butt/back buzzsaw tapbacks

3 beat split direction hip reel pinwheel turn around

thread the needle over the head

4 beat counter clockwise corkscrew

Here's a fun little combo I've been playing with and thought you might enjoy it also. It's a behind the back weave into a side plane flower.

A few weeks ago I put up a post about a move I hadn't yet named. Kevin Axtell suggested the "backerfly" and I liked it! I was playing with it and then I got to playing with the turn around while doing it. Enjoy!

This is a fun set from the August 2010 Prepare for the Playa event performed in San Francisco. The tools are really beautiful blacklight reactive flag poi hand dyed by Phillip "Flaggerboy" Bryan.

This set has some prolific use of anti-spin with the flags -- in hybrid and CAP combinations also -- and will hopefully provide some fun inspiration for all you poi artists who enjoy poi flags.

This video is the first real flow set since her downsizing from 160PSI 43" hoop to the 38" HDPE tubing -- a long and arduous journey back to, more or less (maybe a little less than more, actually), the same place of flow. Shot March, 2010.

Here's a set from the Bahamas when we were doing an impromptu performance after our real performance got canceled because of weather. I had hurt my knee -- you can even see the bandage under my pants on my left leg -- so it, sadly, impacted the quality of the set. I like the set, but more because it was fun to be there with my Pyrotechniq friends than because the set was super amazing although I think this was the first set in which I performed front/back CAPS (where one hand stayed in front doing the cap while the other stayed in back, using side planes). It was also fairly early on in my use of the front plane CAP combinations and the behind the head double stall barrel roll combination. And I also think the premier of the 2 petal split direction flower turn around I do in there toward the end. It felt solid on a lot of levels, but I was hurting and limping while performing which really wasn't the most fun.

Etsy.com had a contest going on for making a movie about handmade moments. My entry was the video clip I put together featuring me making and then performing with a set of flag poi. They are so cute -- white (UV reactive), sheer organza with silver holographic dots on them. I also happened to weight them really well so they just flew so nicely.

Anyway, because of the Etsy.com lawyers, this clip was rejected because you can see the banner in the background. So sad. . . Hope you enjoy it though!

While Temple of Poi founder GlitterGirl was having an amazing trip down in Dallas in May (where Phillip hosted me -- thank you very much!), she had an opportunity to spin a little fire poi for a handful of people. This is a short little practice burn set to Seal's "Waiting for You."
