Commitment/Consistency Bias is a cognitive bias where individuals have a tendency to align their actions, beliefs, and attitudes with previous commitments or statements they have made, even if those commitments are no longer rational or beneficial. Once individuals make a public or private commitment to a particular course of action or belief, they are more likely to stick with it, even in the face of contradictory evidence or changing circumstances, to maintain a sense of internal and external consistency.
Once we commit, we tend to stick. Commitment/Consistency Bias explains our tendency to remain consistent, even when it’s irrational. 🛤️🧠
