The Localist with Carrie Rollwagen

Communication Tools Your Remote Office Needs with Michael Stuckey of Infomedia

Listen Later

Michael Stuckey, Head of Support Development at Infomedia, joins Carrie this week to talk about working remotely and the systems that can help remote work run smoothly. Stuckey and Carrie discuss why they chose the products they currently use at Infomedia, and why Slack is superior to all (Stuckey really, really loves Slack!). Stuckey describes Slack’s user experience, the many ways it boosts a team’s morale, and the differences between the paid and free version. Stuckey and Carrie then move on to Gmail and how the Google Suite can easily replace Microsoft products, the many options available for video calls, and the fun bulletin board-like interface of Trello. They wrap up with best security practices, including what a VPN actually is and who needs it, why everyone should use a password manager (yes, even you!), and a few tips for creating strong passwords.
