As we look to a new year, there is not a new directive for our sense of purpose as a church, but an invitation to continue on what was started two thousand years ago, with the hopes of fulfilling and finishing the mission…Make Jesus Known and Make Disciples.

There were no shepherds, no magi with gifts, no angels on high signing in perfect harmony, just a teenage girl asked to do the unthinkable, the unexplainable, risking her own life to bring forth the giver of Life. The Magnificat of Mary, a song of praise, becomes the mirror causing us to ask the question to ourselves, am I moved by the gift of Jesus?

The suspense of "Unwrapping Christmas" is found in the possibility of three aspects meeting at the intersection of hope and healing: "It Can't be", becoming "it could be", proving "it will be"!

There are certain practices and expressions concerning the Christian faith that are open unto debate and discussion, but the Virgin birth is not one of them. We as the people of God have been given an opportunity like never before, to engage a world searching for answers. Not that we are the answer, but we know the ONE who is the answer. In the English dictionary the word "honor" comes before the word "humility". However, in the economy of God's kingdom what seems logical is not always lasting. Therefore, if you seek honor, then choose humility, but know that when you choose humility, it will lead you to not seek honor, but bestow it.
