Today, we are going to be addressing the controversial issues surrounding war. 

War is one of those issues that scripture clearly speaks about from both extreme sides. When this happens, there is a lot of theological room that allows people to be on either side of the issue without undermining the Christian faith.

While the Old Testament depicts God on one side or the other when it comes to battles, the New Testament shows a God who desires peace and forgiveness over fighting and death.

Today, we are going to be talking about homosexuality. For some this is a very hard topic. 

Homosexuality has been debated for generations in the church because it is something that we don't fully understand. 

No matter where we stand on this issue, we need to be people of grace, as we have been shown grace by Jesus.

This week we looked at the story of the Magi, or the wisemen who come to visit the baby Jesus. We worked through some parts of the story that have been conflated throughout Christian tradition. We also looked at how the story of the Magi is important for us today.

One of the greatest gifts of the Gospel is that through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we are given a new song! For over 400 years, the people of Israel were without a word from God. The prophets were silent, and the Israelites were an oppressed and ruled people. They repeated the lament songs of their forefathers and lived in darkness. When Jesus, the Light of God, broke into the world, he brings with him a song of hope!
