Lisa Wallace, author of the book Embrace, chats with us about her book and experiences raising her daughter named Maddy, a person with 'diverse abilities'.
Lisa is also joined by her other daughter Lauren, who together offer us not only a sense of hope and inspiration with their contributions to the topic of diverse abilities, they also share with us the profound importance of both using person-first language (i.e. person with autism) and viewing individuals who are different not as disabled, but rather as individuals with diverse abilities whose differences should be celebrated. Enjoy!
Do you like to laugh? Sorry, I didn't hear you... DO YOU LIKE TO LAUGH?! Of course you do - we all do because it is healthy for us, and we ALL COULD USE HELP WITH OUR HEALTH RIGHT NOW!
I had the chance to discuss community and comedy with standup comic and internet personality Rick Rowley, and it was a very insightful conversation about the 'not-so-obvious' ways that one can feel apart of community, made evident to him through his work as a standup comedian in both Victoria, BC and Toronto, ON.
There is also something peculiar about him...try and figure it out! Enjoy and stay safe + healthy!
Great...you made it here! Now, you just have to listen to it!
Melissa Faye Reid gives us her view of contributing to the community through discussion about murals, and leaves us with important considerations when conducting community work.
Check it out!
This podcast will change the definition of 'community' in Merriam - Webster...no, it won't, that was a lousy joke.
It will, however, interview awesome people from a variety of places in life doing really rad things for the communities to which they belong! Together, we will unlock the ingredients that contribute to these people's passions for service, and reveal to all the transformative power of community! (MIC DROP...just kidding, I need that for the interviews and it was super expensive!) Do enjoy!
