Next week, Alberta's top doctor will announce details on the provinces plan to administer second doses, including shortening the wait time between doses. To date over 50 percent of Albertans have gotten their first dose, with a total of 9.5 percent being fully vaccinated as of May 26th.

With the province's plan to lift the majority of restrictions if a rate of 70 percent of Albertans over 12 have received their first shot, this might be a long...shot. As of May 21st, Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations continue to be offered at the university to eligible Albertans. On-campus activities continue to be minimal and UAlberta employees are offered support.

As of May 21st over 44 percent of all Albertans have received their first dose of their vaccine, with over 7 percent now being fully vaccinated. These are encouraging numbers but a lot of Albertans still struggle with finding the time with having commitments to work and other things. But did you know that all Albertans are able to access paid leave for up to three hours to receive either of their doses, per making arrangements and notice with employers all part and full time staff regardless of employment time are able to access this leave. As of May 12th, 2021 over 2 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in Alberta, with over 38 % of our population having received their first dose. 7.2 % of our population have now been fully immunized. While most will get a notification from the pharmacy where they got their vaccine, AHS still recommends that you receive your second dose no later than 4 months after your first.

You can go to albertahealthservices.ca you can book your first dose online, or alternatively you can book by calling your pharmacy or by calling HealthLink at 811. Results show that the first dose is 80% percent effective at preventing severe illness, while the second dose ensures protection for as long as possible.

Alberta Health's 3rd phase of their Vaccine Rollout program begins on Thursday, May 6th. The new eligibility will lower to all remaining Albertans aged 30-49 or all those born before 1991. This eligibility will once again be lowered on Monday, May 10 with the guidelines being lowered to all Albertans aged 12 to 29 or those born before 2009. Using ab.bluecross.ca you can find a listing of participating pharmacies or alternatively you can call Healthlink at 811. As of May 5th Canada will have over 13 million people having received their first dose, with over 1 million being full vaccinated.
