In this episode, I talked about mental health and how the stigmatization of mental illness can result in individuals not receiving the services that they need and how this results in poor outcomes for members of our community. 

The relationship between substance use and violence is apparent among a wide range of various populations and types of criminal activity, especially as it relates to criminal recidivism. Issues related to addiction and incarceration have been largely misunderstood. The implications for effective community involvement underscore the significance of addressing personal experiences of stigma, complex relational dynamics, and understanding the needs of support systems that are also shaped by the cycles of incarceration and addiction. 

In this episode, I talk about the intersectionality of trauma, addiction, and incarceration, especially pertaining to how the community views them, the stigmas associated with these topics in the community, the barriers to treatment, and how we should start and continue the conversation about how the community needs to change the way we see addiction as it relates to the associated rates of incarceration.

In this episode, I'll be having a conversation with Dr. Samari and  attachment theory and the associated trauma from the perspective of motherhood, mother wounds and the inner child, we'll delve into why early attachment trauma impacts us as adults and how we can heal from these deep wounds. Dr. Samari's work focuses on helping first time mothers with their inner child wounds, learn to mother themselves so that they can provide their babies with a kinder upbringing than their own.
