Dr. Jackie Newman the director of the Springfield Housing Authority. She spoke to Community Voices about her career in public administration. She also talked about her activities outside of work, which include starting the Fresh Visions Community Church with her husband, and singing in the band Pastor Jerry Jones and the Fantastic Jones Family.

Dr. Jonathan Lackland is a coach and owner of Extreme Air Gymnastics. He spoke to Community Voices about the physical and mental strength required to be a gymnast. He also spoke about safety at home.

Sarah Graham is the Executive Director of the Land of Lincoln Workforce Alliance. The organization works to provide support to job seekers and employers. Sarah spoke to Community Voices about workforce development, advice for job seekers and employers, and various services provided in Springfield. She also gave her perspective on the current job market.

Marcia Cook is co-owner of The Lincoln Arts Institute and director of the Moksha Center. Marcia speaks to Community Voices about the renovation of the Lincoln Arts Institute building, upcoming art exhibits, and the healing arts. She also talks about the Lincoln Art Fair happening in late August.

Logan Bricker is the new Community Voices assistant at NPR Illinois. He sat down with Community Voices hosts Bea Bonner and Vanessa Ferguson to talk about being a UIS student and his plans to be a journalist and war correspondent.

Dr. Albert Capati is a dentist and the owner of Capati Dental in Springfield, Ill. He has also performed with several bands and in several theatrical productions. He spoke to Community Voices about the lesser known aspects of dentistry, and he shared how he got his start performing in shows in Springfield.

The Springfield Art Association has had another busy year bringing art to the community. Executive Director Betsy Dollar and Education Director Erin Svendsen spoke to Community Voices about what has kept them busy this past year, including the new “make truck,” which will bring art projects to schools, events and private parties. They also shared what’s coming up for the organization and information about their new 5K race called “Hoopskirt & Haber-Dash.”

The Lincoln Community Theatre is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Board members Brandon Davis and Brittney McLaughlin spoke to Community Voices about the free gala performance to celebrate the anniversary. They also shared their behind-the-scenes experiences performing with the Lincoln Community Theatre.

Audrey Kondelis is the owner of Pole Barn Chic. She spoke to Community Voices about how event planning comes natural to her. She also explained the difference between event designing and event planning.

Marlene Saini is the owner of Sabores in Chatham, a Mexican ice cream shop. She spoke to Community Voices about her excitement for bringing authentic Mexican flavors to the area, the recipes behind some of the most popular items, and her sister's location in Springfield, Mas Sabores. Marlene also shared some new offerings such as Chicago-style hotdogs.
