Itty Bitty Fashion Trunk is a downtown Springfield, Ill. fashion shop owned by three sisters. Sisters Tricia Schlosser and Krissy Olson spoke to Community Voices about how they originally operated their family business out of a truck, when they were known as Itty Bitty Fashion Truck. They also shared their family's love of fashion and shopping and how that has influenced their business.

Carolyn Owen Sommer is an artist, who began her career creating pottery, but then switched to watercolors. And now, she works with mixed media to create works of art. She spoke to Community Voices about how she got her start as an artist and the similarities between pottery and watercolors. She also shared her inspiration for her artwork, and how color and design are integrated into what she creates.

Johnnie Owens is a well-known jazz singer in Springfield, Ill., but he has also toured internationally earlier in his career as a member of the Platters and as a solo artist. He spoke with Community Voices about growing up in St. Louis and singing on the sidewalk with his friends. He also shared stories of life on tour and how he once was stranded on Fiji.

The COVID-19 pandemic has tested the ability of government and public health officials to effectively communicate complex COVID-19 information to a diverse public audience. At the same time, multiple other common sources of information (and misinformation) have caused confusion and mistrust of official messaging. Expert panelists discuss the roles of public health officials, mainstream and social media, and efforts to counter misinformation throughout the population.

Brynna Wilson is one of the women behind Green Haven in Jacksonville, Ill. The store sells eco-friendly products. The store also carries zero-waste products. Wilson spoke with Community Voices about how the business started and how products are curated.

Reverend Susan Phillips is the pastor at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Springfield. She spoke with Community Voices about how her diversity in experiences has shaped her ministry. She also shared the nearly 200-year history of First Presbyterian Church as well as the remodeling of the building to make it more accessible.

Brian Su collects watches from around the world. In 2019, he opened Sangamon Watches with his business partner Tyler McKay. Su spoke with Community Voices about the history of Illinois watch making and the watch collections sold at Sangamon Watches, which draw inspiration from American history.

Gary Shull is a director, choreographer, dancer and former instructor at Millikin University. He still teaches dance at Dance Arts Studio in Springfield. He spoke with Community Voices about dancing at his neighbor's studio, and how he realized his passion for teaching.

The Front Row Network, a Community Voices podcast partner for NPR Illinois, recently reviewed films featured at the Route 66 International Film Festival. One of the directors featured at the festival, Ben Harl showcased two films at the festival. He is an Illinois film director who started making movies later in life after performing in a music video. He spoke with the Front Row Network's Jay Hoffman about his interests in writing, music and film. He also shared his inspiration for his recent films.
