Lisa Mathieson (née Van Case) is a college classmate of mine who finished at the Murrow College in 2003. We discuss the origins of her career at KIMA and the the transition to Seattle that almost exactly mirrored that of co-host Nick Allard. We also share our experiences becoming public servants and the meaning it gave us. Amanda Hara graduated from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication with me in 2003. We talk about the local newspaper she started at the age of eight, her early career in Evansville, Indiana, and the gauntlet of being a young reporter. She eventually found her way to the south where she is currently the Evening Anchor and Executive Producer of Digital Content at WVLT. We discuss some of the differences between the Pacific Northwest and the South. She also shares how much she values her current role and what the future might have in store for current journalism students.

Glenn Johnson touched the lives of countless broadcast professionals during his 35-year tenure as a professor at Washington State University. He is a dedicated public servant who is in his last term as the mayor of Pullman, WA. We talked about his early career in broadcast news in California, his move to Pullman and WSU, and about the state of journalism and all the mentees he molded over the years.

Nick Allard and I discuss getting our starts in television as recent and very broke college graduates. We then discuss the arc of his career as he moved from small market Tri-Cities, WA to Seattle, then Portland, then back to Seattle where he is currently the morning meteorologist and weather anchor at KIRO-7. Nick also opens up about how he has dealt with his anxiety professionally and otherwise.
