In this episode we will now extend each chord by a third. The Em7 (1, b3, 5, b7) will become Em9 (1, b3, 5, b7, 9). The Dmaj7 (1, 3, 5, 7) will become Dmaj9 (1, 3, 5, 7, 9). Each of these extended chords (diatonic 9th chords) can be viewed as a slash chord. Em9 = Gmaj7/E and Dmaj9 = F#m7/D.
