  • UtopiaFest

This week Brian is joined by Travis and Wayne, the founders of UTOPiAfest.

This year UTOPiAFest takes place on October 14-15, 2022. Set in the hills of Reveille Park Ranch, a 1,300-acre adventure ranch outside of Burnet, Texas, UTOPiAfest lives up to its utopian name in nearly every regard – their manifesto can attest. The family-friendly festival prides itself in creating a quality over quantity experience, complete with non-overlapping stages, a generous BYOB policy, ample land for camping, mountain biking, disc golf, and horseback riding, experiential workshops from local Texan artisans, and other unique offerings.

As the brainchild of co-founders Travis Sutherland and Wayne Dalchau, UTOPiAfest is the duo’s passion project turned safe haven for thousands searching for an accepting, inclusive festival experience that truly practices what it preaches.

This years lineup includes Grammy Award-winning jazz guitarist John Scofield, American folk duo Shovels and Rope, rapper Charli 2na, and Austin-native Sir Woman among others.

  • Damn Your Eyes

This week Brian is joined by Artie and Darren from Damn Your Eyes.

Since its inception, New York metal band Damn Your Eyes has been on a tear and taking no prisoners. The crushing lineup consists of Artie Alexander (guitars, vocals), Oddie McLaughlin (bass), Darren Markoff (drums, formerly of Korotory), Gabriel "Gabby" Abularach (guitars), and Kenny Vincent Jr. (vocals). Together, the men make Damn Your Eyes into a Monster Metal Machine. With a thunderous rhythm section, dueling guitars and dueling vocals, they leave no stone unpulverized.

Damn Your Eyes are slowing down the tempo and diving face first into bone-crushing heaviness on their new single "Weaponized." Based on a traumatic event involving betrayal, infidelity, and emotional abuse, "Weaponized" covers the difficult topic of when negative self talk becomes reality.

  • Dystopica

This week Brian is joined by Becky and Rob from Dystopica.

Dystopica is a heavy metal band from Connecticut, US. Dystopica was formed in 2019 by Becky Brideau. The band’s lineup is Becky Brideau on vocals, Rob Muller on guitars, and Erich Bender on drums. Dystopica has a distinct sound blending hard rock, heavy metal, thrash metal, and progressive metal.  The band’s music includes melodic, harmonizing guitar riffs and powerful female vocals. Influenced by classic heavy metal, Dystopica brings back qualities of heavy metal from the 70’s and 80’s mixed with some modern and progressive elements.

Due to Covid, Dystopica has not had the opportunity to perform live shows yet as a band. However, all the members have performed live in previous bands. Guitarist Rob Muller has performed with previous bands at numerous venues including The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY and has opened for several well-known bands including Warbringer, Dying Fetus, Kittie, Enforcer, Moonspell, and Cattle Decapitation. Drummer Erich Bender has performed with a previous band at multiple local venues in CT including the Webster Underground in Hartford, CT.
