  • Goldthread

This week Brian is joined by Kaylene and Lauren from Goldthread.

Goldthread are an alternative rock/dark pop female-fronted band based in Cleveland, Ohio

Influenced by bands such as Pvris, Emarosa, and I the Mighty. Genre-fluid, melodic, and thoughtfully incisive, Goldthread aims to connect with other lost souls to make something beautiful out of the collective mire. Working with producer Phoenix Arn- Horn (Courage my Love), Dear Icarus is the band’s first EP, released in 2021, that tells the story of falling and having the strength to get back up.

  • Scorpion Child

This week Brian is joined by Aryn Black, Lead singer of Scorpion Child.

Scorpion child is an American rock band based in Austin, Texas. Formed in 2006, the band has experienced frequent lineup changes. They are signed to the German-based independent label Nuclear Blast and worked with Grammy-nominated producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith on their two albums. Their music has been compared to Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Rainbow, and Black Sabbath, and the band also cited Krautrock and doom metal bands like Pentagram, Hairy Chapter, and Lucifer's Friend as influences.

Scorpion Child released their self-titled debut album in June 2013. In a review of the album, one reviewer described Scorpion Child as "a heavy-riffing behemoth that takes the current glut of guitar-slinging retro-copyists and punches them through the pavement." The album reached #31 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The song "Polygon of Eyes" was featured as the iTunes single of the week in June 2013.

Following a lineup change they released the album Acid Roulette in June 2016. The album was noted for being heavier and more progressive than its predecessor, thanks to the strengths of the new lineup, while one reviewer noted the album's "Lizzy-meets-Maiden riffage." Acid Roulette reached #19 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

The band are currently working on new music and preparing to tour.

Tune in to hear all about the history of Scorpion Child, Aryn's influences and musical experiences and what the future holds for the band.

  • Panic Boom

This week Brian is joined by Chris McLernon. Chris is known for bands such as Cold Sweat, Cold Gin and Saigon Kick but he is here this week to share details on his new project Panic Boom.

This band of brothers was formed in 1994 when drummer Phil Varone parted ways with Saigon Kick setting out to form a new group. Varone, called life-long friends Tony Cortese (guitar), Randy Bates (vocals), and Saigon Kick bandmate, Bass Player Chris McLernon. Guitarist Sean Martin would complete the lineup. Panic Boom was born.

Boom's songwriting was immediate as they entered the recording studio to begin recording songs for Atlantic Records. Atlantic would eventually pass on the band, and each member would go onto other projects. The band would never break up, with Panic Boom, you are a member for life. The members call it “The Hotel California of bands.”

After twenty-five plus years dormant, Panic Boom began showing signs of activity when Varone called each bandmate asking if they would like to re-record one of the original songs for his new documentary, 30yrs a Drummer. What happened next was something no one saw coming. One song, turned into two songs, then three, then four and before long; Panic Boom had recorded a full-length album, of brand-new songs, mixed with the old songs.

As well as Panic Boom, Chris and Brian discuss Chris's early musical experiences and influences from jumping on a bed listening to the The Beatles as a child to playing in bands alongside Guns n Roses, Poison, Warrant, Jane's Addiction, Faster Pussycat and LA Guns to name a few. Hear all about Chris's amazing career and what the future holds.
