Last night I had the amazing opportunity to be interviewed by Will Gavin on the UK sports radio programme TalkSPORT Extra Time! I was asked earlier that day after Hull City midfielder, Ryan Mason retired from professional football (soccer) at the age of 26. In January, 2017 Ryan Mason's skull was fractured after a collision with Chelsea's Gary Cahill."I'm retiring from the game with my head held high having done everything in my power over these past 13 months to have given myself every opportunity to return to the pitch,"I have worked tirelessly in order to be able to return to the pitch."Unfortunately, having taken expert medical advice I now have no option but to retire due to the risks involved given the nature of my injury.

On episode 28 of Concussion Talk Podcast I talk to Ashley Hiscock, an athletic therapist at founder of Premier Athletic Therapy in St. John's, NL, Canada, and a coach of  Memorial University Cheerleading, a team won first place in the Premier All-Girl Division at the 2018 International Cheer Union University World Cup Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, FL. As an athletic therapist and as a cheerleading coach, Ashley has a keen interest in concussion. We talk about the risks, and what is being done to address concussions in cheerleading. A concussion researcher and neurologist at the Krembil Neuroscience Centre's Memory Clinic in Toronto, in July 2016, Dr. Tartaglia was awarded the Marion and Gerald Soloway Professorship in Brain Injury and Concussion Research, a joint appointment between the University Health Network (UHN) and the University of Toronto, and the world's first professorship focused on concussion research.The professorship is thanks to a donation to encourage continuation of the work of work being done at the Canadian Concussion Centre by Dr. Charles Tator's team.We talk about concussion and CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) research.
