We’re in the home stretch now in episode 5/6 on pricing your product or service. This week we wanted to talk all about figuring out who your competition is, and what to do with that information. It’s easy to get lost in the sauce aka an onslaught of google results when you search for who your competition is, so we wanted to share we how work through our community to find out who our competition is. If you haven’t noticed we tend to focus a lot on community, that’s because without them your business would simply not succeed. It’s important to always let the customers guide your decisions. After all you are solving their problems right?

We share what some of our biggest missteps were when looking at our competition, and because we always want to share more we decided to give you some examples of how you too can overcome certain difficulties if you feel like your completion is unbeatable. Business is all about creative problem solving so we’re sharing some of ours.

Marketing positioning is all about defining what your company and brand truly is, and subsequently where that puts it within the market place. Like everything we do we keep it simple, because why make things harder than they need to be? But also because once you have all the information, it’s really about doing your homework and listening to what your consumers are telling you (and doing because sometimes those two are different).

We outline a simple graph and cover where common brands fall within it. We talk high price & high quality vs low price & low quality. Of course we couldn’t help ourselves and had to throw some thoughts in there about companies current pricing strategies and how the market is changing.

We’ll break down how to write proper goals, how the pricing ties into your final price, and finish up with some of our own learning lessons.
