For generations, these limited definitions have caused many men to bottle up feelings, struggle in silence, and miss out on deep connections. That’s why relationships falter — because we’re afraid to show who we really are. But if we redefine what manhood truly is — a balance of strength and vulnerability — we can heal ourselves, our relationships, and even our communities.

So, to every man listening — you don’t have to live by outdated rules. Be brave enough to be real. Show your heart. That’s the real mark of strength. Let’s break the cycle and redefine what it means to be a man — one that’s compassionate, honest, and true to himself.

 Most of us grow up hearing, “Put others first,” “Be selfless,” and “Always think of everyone else.” And don’t get me wrong, caring for others is beautiful. But here’s the thing — we’ve been taught to put ourselves last, to always prioritize others before our own needs.

But here's a truth I’ve realized: constantly neglecting yourself isn’t selfless; it’s harmful. It creates a cycle where we forget who we are, what we need, and quietly carry wounds that we don’t even realize are there. Generations before us have been carrying this trauma—feeling guilty for wanting self-care, for saying no, for just being human.

And you know what? It’s okay to put yourself first sometimes. It’s okay to say no. Your feelings, your mental health, your dreams—none of them are selfish. They’re essential.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected, remember this: you can care for others better when you also care for yourself. You don’t have to carry the world alone. Healing begins with acknowledging your own needs and giving yourself permission to prioritize YOU.

Let’s break this cycle together. Because you matter — more than you’ve been told, more than you’ve been taught. Your well-being isn’t selfish. It’s necessary. 

 Sometimes we carry wounds — memories or experiences that linger and hold us back. A  journey to healing is not easy but it’s so worth it.

Its important to acknowledge  trauma. Ignoring it or pretending it doesn’t exist only makes it heavier. Facing it head-on can be scary but freeing. It’s like shining a light into dark corners of your mind — uncomfortable at first, but necessary to truly heal.

It is important to prioritze your mental health. It’s okay to take time for yourself, to seek help if you need it, whether that’s talking to a friend, a therapist, or just taking a moment to breathe. Self-care is not selfish — it’s essential.

Remember, healing isn’t linear. There will be days when it feels like two steps back, and that’s okay. What matters is consistency and kindness to yourself. Every small step forward is a victory.

So, if you’re carrying wounds, know that you’re not alone. Your mental health matters — prioritize it. Give yourself permission to heal, to grow, and to become the best version of you. Because your mind and heart deserve that love and care.
