Your past is no indication of what you’re capable of in the future. It’s simply what happened.
And all that remains is what you think your past means about you.
Maybe you made some mistakes, did some things you weren’t proud of, but that doesn’t mean you need to punish yourself for things that have already come and gone.
You stay living in the past by constantly thinking about what has already happened, but did you know you could live in the future by constantly think about what you want to happen?
I know you’re thinking, “but isn’t that delusional, shouldn’t I be realistic”? You aren’t being more realistic by focusing on the past than focusing on the future.
The past has already happened, and the future hasn’t happened yet. It’s no more realistic to borrow from there, than it is from the future.
The only reason you think it is, is because you’ve got more “experience” from the past; where your future has yet to be experienced.
But lack of experience means nothing; you can decide to create that experience in the present by focusing on what you want, and start walking towards it.
