  • When We Were Young
Back in the day, Joey and I (Beth) used to pretty cool and fun.  The time after college and before kids.  We loved our dogs more than anything in the whole world.  You know, that perfect time when you're working and making money and spending it without caring too much about retirement and long term investments?  Anyway, I'm digressing.  This week on the podcast, the Conklin's talk about how we used to Conker Camping.  We reminisce about a few of our trips back in the day, and some of our memories of how it used to be.  Join us as we take a walk down memory lane and share a few of our lessons learned.

  • Car Camping-Lessons Learned from a Mini Man in a Mini Mini Van
Frank is on quite the adventure.  Join us as we speak to him about how he started car camping in his Honda Fit, and some of the adventures and challenges faced along the way.  Frank started camping out of his car by simply taking a weekend trip close to home.  While on that trip, he learned some things that worked, and what was not as successful.  We talk to him about what he eats while on the road, how he determines where to stay (or park), and about his 7 week journey across the country.  You can follow him on Instagram @speakingquitefrankly to find out where he goes next!

  • Tampa RV Show Review and Catching Up With the Bethunes
This past week thousands went to Tampa to a national RV show.  Kyle Bethune had been to the show since he was a kid, and this year was a bit different.  It was still busy and popular, but not nearly as it has in the past.  Surely because of the virus, not because of the popularity of camping.  In fact, Jenn and Kyle said that Camping World and Airstream were not even at the show, presumably because the demand has been so high.  It is no doubt that the next year will be a big year for rv and camping adventures.
We then spent some time catching up with Jenn and Kyle.  We first spoke with them a few month ago, and you can listen to that podcast here.  Since we last spoke they had made their way back east, and even bought a small campground in the smoky mountain foothills.  You can check them out at redwhiteandbethune.com .

  • Introducing and Encouraging Diversity in the Outdoors
Sometimes you talk to people who talk about doing things, and then there are people who do the things.  Zenovia is one of those amazing people who does all the things.  She saw a need and is doing some strong, actionable items to meet that need within her community.  As the founder of Black Kids Adventures, Inc., Zenovia works with families and introduces them to the outdoors and all that it has to offer.  From yoga day in the park to a Halloween hike, to even taking 7 families for a weekend camping adventure-that is just the beginning.  As people are spending more time outdoors and finding ways to connect to their neighbors and community, the leadership and example that Zenovia has set forth is a wonderful reference.  Listen to learn more about her blog-Black Adventure Crew, Black Kids Adventures, Inc., and her co-founding of #blackhikersweek.  To learn more, you can find her on Instagram @blackadventurecrew and at blackadventurecrew.com

  • If the RV’s a Rockin’...
Joey and I have known Keri and Jonathan for over 10 years.  In fact, I was in marching band with them at Auburn with them, so we go even further back (dare I say 17 years!).  Throughout that time, we still meet up on occasion, mostly during football season and tailgate parties.  However, when they reached out and offered to tell us about their experience camping at Disney’s Fort Wilderness RV Park last Christmas, it was quite a pleasure to hear all about it.  They had some good tips and feedback about what to expect if you go, especially around Christmas time.  In addition, our conversation evolved to talking about how Keri spent her summers growing up camping on a boat for weeks at a time.  I didn’t even know that was a thing!   I hope you enjoy this quick podcast, and I can’t wait to have Keri and her dad back on to tell us more about boat camping.
