The Roelands Mission has always been a place of many stories. This week's guest Les Wallam is someone who knows the history of the Roelands Mission well as he entered the mission as a young toddler. The Indigenous Elder shares about his experience at the Mission including how he became known as a legend within the community in his younger years. Les shares stories from his younger years and how he was called back to this beautiful area of the South West to help assist in the development and rebuilding of the now known Roelands Village. Les is a huge contributor to the Roelands community and is heavily involved in keeping the local Aboriginal culture alive. It is through his volunteering contribution that Les was recognised as the 2019 RAC volunteer award winner.

The Country Women’s Association has had a long, rich history and has been at the heart of country life for almost 100 years! Feeding families, preparing delicious food from their famous CWA cookbook, baking for loved ones and communities in need. However, on this week’s episode, we learn that there is so much more to the privilege of being a CWA member. Kahlia Murray is former president of the new generation of CWA members in Burekup ‘River Valley Belles’. Kahlia speaks to the opportunities she has had through her involvement with the organisation such as discovering new friendships, hobbies and skills while having the chance to advocate for issues that are important to her and her community.

Traditionally seen as an organisation for older women to come together and connect, Kahlia shares how the CWA has grown to move with the times and how being a member has had a significant impact on her life and her community.
