This Saturday in Downtown DuBois, it’s a chance to check out the amazing work of local artists at the annual Art Walk on the Block.

At least 20 different stops with artists and musicians will be spread out at businesses on Brady Street and Long Avenue.

Come by Downtown DuBois anytime on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to be part of the fun.

Although there are plenty of free things to do, bring some extra cash for food and any artwork that might catch your eye.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Leslie S. Richards today recognized 30 PennDOT employees for their outstanding performance with the Star of Excellence Award, PennDOT’s highest recognition.

Two employees from PennDOT’s District 2, which represents Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin, and Potter counties were among the honorees.“Every day, I am reminded of our employees’ dedication, their excellent customer service, and in many cases, their sacrifices,” said PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards. “The accomplishments of our Stars of Excellence exemplify PennDOT’s mission to provide the very best transportation services to Pennsylvanians every day.

Brookville Council will receive planning money for the borough's proposed Riverwalk project.

At its regular netting last night, Council announced it was awarded $10,500 in Act 13 Marcellus Shale fees from Jefferson County to fund the project’s initial engineering study.

Act 13 was created to enact gas well fees to counties, municipalities and state agencies.

Developing greenways, trails, and outdoor recreational space is one area the fee was intended to help.

The proposed Riverwalk would establish a connected trail system in the borough along its three natural waterways along Red Bank, North Fork and Sandy Lick creeks.

A DuBois native who is now teaching in the Bronx was recently chosen out of the 79,000 school teachers across New York City to be highlighted as one of the 17 teachers receiving the Big Apple Award this year.

David Roush is now a media communications teacher at Harry S. Truman High School, where he says he has taken his students on at least 16 hands-on field trips this year alone to get real-life experience in the media field.

Kids 18 and under can use the gym for free, along with police, veterans and active-duty military members, and first responders.

On Tuesday, June 4, everyone is welcome to try out the gym on East Long Avenue in DuBois for free all day!

The mid-day DuBois Chamber Mixer will be from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
