Wish you’d done something different when it comes to money? You’re not alone. More than three-quarters of Americans have some kind of financial regret.

“It’s not debt. More often, people are regretful that they didn’t start saving for retirement soon enough or that they don’t have enough saved for emergencies.”

Bankrate’s Greg McBride on a new survey. The good news… in many cases, you can change that.

“Set up a direct deposit from your paycheck into a dedicated savings account for those emergency expenses, participate in your employer-sponsored retirement plan, or have an automatic deduction that goes into an IRA.”

In other words, pay yourself first.

School taxes will see a slight increase over the next year as the Brockway Area School Board felt it had no choice but to raise taxes to meet a budget shortfall.

While the per capita taxes remained the same as 2018-2019, the occupational assessment tax rate will go up to $100.  In addition, the real estate taxes will increase slightly, meaning that a house assessed at $50,000 will be assessed at an additional $57.  Dr. James Brown voted no to all tax increases.

School Board President Katie Bish said that the increases were necessary due to not receiving sufficient funds from the state.
