Most people cannot truly appreciate the depth of pain that has enveloped Tumbler Ridge, B.C., after eight people, including six children aged 11 to 13, were murdered on February 10.
But Sandra Martins-Toner can.
Her 16-year-old son Matthew was murdered in 2005 at a transit station in Surrey, BC.
She shares her pain and her path to keep her child's memory alive and to help others. She writes, "When I speak about the murder of my sweet boy, and the losses that followed not long after, I'm not just telling a sad story, I'm opening a door. Every time I speak, someone else steps through that door and begins to tell 'their truth' - sometimes for the first time in years."
Sandra has written and self-published several books about the murder of her son and her journey that she describes as from "grief to grace."
