In 2018, Idaho started a platform for health care workers to support and educate one another. Project ECHO works to share knowledge through weekly video conferences to increase the specialist knowledge among doctors in our state.
The program started here with opioid use, and has since expanded to include series on behavioral health and substance use during pregnancy.
But starting in March, the program began offering coronavirus-specific lessons and support. Now, doctors across the state are more educated on this respiratory disease and how to address it, even if that wasn’t their specialty in medical school.
Joining Idaho Matters today is Idaho’s Project ECHO Director Lachelle Smith and Dr. Ann Lima of Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino.
As COVID-19 cases spread through the U.S. and Idaho, we’re committed to keeping you updated and informed. You can get updated info on cases, closures and how to stay healthy at any time on our Coronavirus news blog.
