While Jonah’s transformation by God’s grace propels him to the mission, the mission exposes his need for ongoing transformation by Grace.

When God restores you, he restores you to His purpose in the world.

Genuine repentance ends with addressing lordship and idolatry, by admitting that there is a real and eternal cost to sin, and a pleasure in the grace of God once the sin is out in the open.

When God asks a hard thing of us, the painful truth about us is revealed; and God’s transforming grace in the form of a willing substitute and a miraculous deliverance is patiently waiting to catch us.

When God speaks, everything changes. His Word, a sacred text, exposes our sacred text and illuminates who we are at the core.

The sovereign freedom of God, the limits of human wisdom, thoughts on the use and abuse of wealth and power, and the brevity and absolute contingency of human life—all lead to the command to fear God.

Faith in a Sovereign God is visible in investments and generosity. Faith in a Sovereign God is visible in enjoying life by beholding how precious it is.

For those of us who are in Christ Jesus, “who became to us wisdom from God” according to 1 Corinthians 1:30, wisdom in this fallen world under the sun is of supreme value.

Godly wisdom is to live in such a way in this life “under the sun” that points and testifies to the reality beyond the sun.
