This week on Conscious Conversations Yelina has the pleasure of hosting and getting to know the extraordinary Marianne Cox. Marianne is the founder of Street Dog Hero (SDH), a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity and dog rescue based out of Bend, Oregon. Street Dog Hero rescues street dogs all around the world from terrible situations and helps them get adopted in the PNW. On this episode Marianne and Yelina dive into the story of SDH, how SDH helps educate other cultures on how to take care of and treat their dogs, as well as some harsh truths about dogs and pets all around the world. The conversation leads into backyard breeders, dog meat markets in Asia, high kill shelters in the United States and when it actually might be appropriate to euthanize a dog. Being an owner of 5 dogs herself, Marianne openly talks about purchasing her first two dogs from a breeder and then adopting the other three, what she learned from each experience and why she will now always adopt and NOT shop for her dogs. Peace, love & Puppies! Enjoy y'all.
