Michael Chertoff, an American attorney who was the United States Secretary of Homeland Security serving under President George W. Bush. As Secretary, he led a 218,000 person department with a budget of $50 billion. Mr. Chertoff developed and implemented border security and immigration policy; promulgated homeland security regulations; and spearheaded a national cyber security strategy. In 2009, he co-founded the Chertoff Group, a risk-management and security consulting company.
