This year stands at the 1700-year anniversary of the convening of the First Council of Nicaea, which had huge implications for the definition of the church. We also stand at the centennial for the Scopes Monkey Trial, which was so massively influential in drawing the cultural battle lines in our society. The world in which we are living was powerfully impacted by both of these events.
