Born in Birmingham in late Seventies Father was a QS and is now part time consultant, mother was an AAT Accounts Manager before she retired.
Since Birmingham I’ve led a rather nomadic lifestyle with work & careers, spending 5 years in Bristol, and then moving to Buckinghamshire before then moving to Hertfordshire & then Bedfordshire where I’m now very settled indeed.
My first job 11 washing up and bottling up in a local pub and I loved every minute.
As a young lad I also did labouring for a scaffolder, roofer, landscaper, several paper rounds, mucking out at stables, car washing and hay baling and domestic painting & decorating in the summer months all of which I loved as I’ve always had a strong work ethic and I could create value, and it also gave me connection to people I didn't get at school.
Left school at 16 did some time with John Laing’s before leaving.
I then worked on tools for several years as a fencing subcontractor with a small but tight team and also did my ONC in Building Studies at Luton College on self-funded day release which was tough, but I made some friends for life and learnt much. I then got job at Site Manager at TH Kenyon and rose to Operations Manager over a period of 8 years but resigned after an MBO failed. I also got divorced during this time
Was head hunted by a FCIMA Venture Capitalist to run a small £3mpa T/O business in London doing Block management and some social housing major projects which he’d purchased along with many other construction based business, which we turned into a great success until the banking sector fell out of love with Construction and caused it to fail through poor relationship management and aggressive accounting practices.
I then worked at a few different organisations, had some amazing times, made some amazing connections, mentored some very talented young team members and uncovered some very “interesting” goings on but never truly felt at home.
Then the Chairman of T H Kenyon invited me back in 2015 initially freelance to resolve some problem projects that they had on site and also procure some others which we went on to be nominated awards for. He then offered a Directorship which I accepted and again looked at MBO but following a large “Clash of values” I resigned after 2 ½ years
I was approached by the MD to join MCP Property Services but it became apparent my style and there’s differed, so I resigned and set up STONE Contracts 14 months ago to focus solely on Block Management Major Works Contracts, and the rest as they say is history.
