I don't know about you, but most consultants I speak with are overwhelmed. They don't say it to me directly, but I can sense it.
Proposals are taking longer to get the nod
Clients are taking longer to pay your invoices
Economy woes, rising expenses
LinkedIn's reach is plummeting
I totally get it. It happens to me, too. No one is immune to feeling a bit stressed with there's just too much going on.
I hate it when I'm overwhelmed. Things feel incredibly slow and I begin to wonder if this is the beginning of the end of my business. I have felt this way several times over the years (I started my consulting firm in 2009).
But I've also realized that these are voices in my head. Most of them are simply not true.
And so, whenever I feel this way, this is what I do:
As in, I ask myself, "What is it that helps my business thrive?"
The answer for me is, "Being in demand"
When I feel my market actively wants what I offer, it gives me confidence, security and hope.
When I look at my business from a 30,000 foot view, examine its fundamentals and hit "reset", I inevitably generate more demand, i.e. more buyers interested in working with us, more proposals out the door and ultimately more cash in the door.
If you're feeling the way I do sometimes, then join me for the latest session in the Consulting Growth Hour series, "The Fundamentals of Demand Generation".
We'll look at the key elements of demand generation so you are inspired to take action and generate more demand and opportunities for your consulting business.
