What makes someone a good pastor?
As we endeavor to appoint more elders, what should we be looking for?
Some would say dynamic communicators, strategic visionaries, influential leaders, and skilled managers with degrees. But if we build our leadership model on these worldly metrics alone, we risk elevating charisma over character, and skill over spiritual maturity. Were not the Pharisees highly educated, influential, and gifted teachers?
So, what are the right metrics?
In this sermon on Titus 1:6-9, Pastor Dan helps us see the ‘Qualities That Lead: The Marks of a Biblical Elder’. A faithful pastor is one who is faithful to his family, integrous in his conduct, godly in his character, and unwavering in his devotion to sound doctrine. These are the qualities that truly lead!
But these aren’t just standards for pastors—they are marks of spiritual maturity that every believers should aspire to. Whether you are an elder, an aspiring leader, or simply a follower of Jesus , this message challenge will you to examine yourself and consider “Am I living a life that is worth imitating?”
