Groundbreaking research which proposes that the rise of alphabetic literacy reconfigured the human brain and brought about profound changes in history, religion, and gender relations. Making remarkable connections across brain function, myth, and anthropology,  Dr. Shain shows why pre-literate cultures were principally informed by holistic, right-brain modes that venerated the Goddess, images, and feminine values. Leonard Shlain (1939 - 2009) was the author of Art & Physics: Parallel Visions in Space Time & Light and The Alphabet Versus the Goddess: The Conflict Between Word and Image. Dr. Shlain was an American surgeon, author, and inventor. He was chairperson of laparoscopic surgery at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, and was an associate professor of surgery at University of California, San Francisco.

There is growing evidence of possible visits to the Americas made by people from Asia, Europe and Oceania prior to Christopher Columbus in 1492.  Pretty much accepted by mainstream scientists and scholars are Maritime explorations by Norse peoples from Scandinavia during the late 10th century led to the Norse colonization of Greenland and Newfoundland[3] which preceded Columbus' arrival in the Americas by some 500 years. Recent genetic studies have also suggested that some eastern Polynesian populations have admixture from coastal northern South American peoples with an estimated date of contact around 1200 CE.

Gunnar Thompson,  Anthropologist (1946 - 2017) has been a lifelong critic of traditional history. In the third grade, he was asked "Who discovered America." He replied: "The Indians"--thinking they were here before everybody else. The teacher said he was wrong. In grad school at the University of Wisconsin, he was again asked the same question. This time, he added: "the Egyptians, the Chinese, the Romans and the Greeks.”  He has written several watershed books and numerous articles on the subject of early voyages to the New World before Columbus. These include: Nu Sun (1989), American Discovery (1994), The Friar's Map (1996), and Lions In The New Land (1998). His discovery of the Omnibus Power Sign in 1985 offered the first conclusive proof that Asian mariners had made a significant contribution to the origins of New World civilization. In 2005, he was invited to give a presentation on Zeng He and Marco Polo at the Library of Congress. In 2006, he was invited to Beijing, China, to authenticate the 1418 Ming Map of the World. His vital discoveries have received praise from such notable scholars as the Norwegian ethnologist Thor Heyerdahl, author Gavin Menzies, and archeologist Betty Meggers of the Smithsonian Institution. He has appeared internationally on countless television documentaries and is widely acknowledged as a leading world expert on multi-ethnic New World Discovery.

Throughout recorded history there are references to light emissions observed to come from the human body. For years we have known that life is an electrical fact; that all vital systems operate electrically. Recently we have found that a cell is a bioelectric wonder - with polarities and energy field effects. Relatively inert substances, like membranes, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and fascia also participate in chemical interaction. These tissue create and carry electrical impulses. Dr. Valerie V. Hunt (1916 - 2014) was a Professor Emeritus of the Department of Physiological Sciences at UCLA, and resident of Malibu, California. Her groundbreaking work was published in Infinite Mind: Science of the Human Vibrations of Consciousness in 1996.  Her visionary approach and high standard of scientific integrity that led her to groundbreaking discoveries in energy fields, won her international acclaim from researchers in the fields of physiology, medicine and bioengineering. Dr. Hunt was consulted in space biology for NASA and was also a field reader for US Department of Health, Education and Welfare research grants. She taught courses at 20 medical colleges and universities both in the United States and abroad. In addition, she traveled the world, and studied ritualistic healings and mysticism in the Orient, South America, Africa and the Pacific Islands.

“It would be arrogant to think we’re alone in the Universe,” says Harvard Professor Avi Loeb, theoretical astrophysicist. His conjecture on the anomalous, shiny, elongated space object (dubbed “Oumuamua”, Hawaiian for “scout”) that wandered through our inner solar system in 2017 fit the evidence, yet stirred up quite the controversy. It looked and behaved not like an asteroid or cement, but a solar light sail, just as we’d design for a space probe. He details why in his book, Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth. “We should not rule out technology from an advanced, extraterrestrial civilization just because the notion is unpopular among the academic community,” he argues. This did lead to private funding for Avi’s “Galileo Project” named for that other daring astronomer. We talk about new strategies to detect life in the Cosmos, the goals and hopes for his project, the role and limits of science, what we know and don’t know, his philosophy of life, tackling the big questions, the impact on society’s advancement, the filmmakers interested in his work, and more. "The Biblical accounts are full of trance states," says this Georgetown University scholar. When I ask him why our society trusts accounts of ASC from 2,000 years ago, but less so now, he agrees that mystical states are just as available to us now as then.

"Nobody has done more than John Pilch to popularize the use of an ASC model for understanding the visions, sky journeys and other ecstatic experiences reported in biblical texts. He is to be credited for pointing out the ethnocentrism in traditional biblical research that do not take visions, soul journeys and the like seriously as culturally plausible human phenomena. He introduced the notion of alternate states of consciousness (ASCs), a well-known category in anthropological research, to biblical interpretation in an attempt to avoid the ethnocentrism that considers such reports as either nonhistorical or fictional."   Pieter F.
