In “Turn to God with Carin,” Carin Jayne Casey shares her monthly book review of her book, My Dear Rosa Jean, a ‘truthful fiction’ about a woman’s life of domestic violence, and overcoming it. Casey encourages listeners to listen to past podcasts covering prior chapters. Casey has a Summer Special of her ebooks at Amazon/Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook for 99 cents. We learned in past segments that Rosa Jean had suffered abuse during childhood, as did her siblings. In her adult life, she had failed at relationships leading to her entanglement with Brad. The two had a whirlwind relationship, and quickly married. Within weeks, he tried to kill her. Once she had left a women’s shelter, she forgave him, and they reconciled. In these chapters, Rosa Jean shares with her Aunt Grace the various abuses she had endured, which brought on her PTSD and dissociation episodes like in her past. Some abuses include: taking/destroying personal belongings; physical assault; taking the family pet away; pressure through shaming and fear tactics to cross a boundary (here, to get a large tattoo); sleep deprivation; and control over finances.

Casey asked some thought provoking questions, and welcomes feedback on them. She also shares her recipe for overcoming: 1) Turn to God for salvation; 2) Safely leave the dangerous/toxic environment (after much prayer & hopefully with shelter staff expertise for a Escape Plan); to have Faith and Believe in better days, a change in mindset from unloved, abused victim to loved Child of God; to be filled with Gratitude and Thanksgiving; to forgive the Abuser and those who were Indifferent. Forgiveness happens in the heart and has nothing to do with reconciling with a dangerous, abusive person. She shared The National Domestic Violence Hotline number, 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE).

Are you ready to do #SpecialThings? Have you decided to make a choice to take a chance to make a change? Are you involved in your children's lives? Are you able to keep your children active? So many people are unprepared to do anything because of fear. Many people are indecisive because of fear. So many Parents are not involved in their children's lives (everyone is left to their own). And so many children do not have a varied activity life. The common denominator in all of that is fear. But the scripture tells us that when we walk (move, take action) the outcome will not be a negative one. During the PorchTalk conversation, that point of fear stopping us is made again. But as a result of the faith required, you must start.

When it is all said and done, we have to walk in the freedom of having GOD on our side. We want you to be mindful of the freedom we have in this Country. Or for our Neighbors that live in other Countries you still have to be mindful of your freedom too. . We do want to take the time to thank all our Armed Forces and 1st Responders and those who serve us in so many capacities for their services and to make sure that each of you know we appreciate you for the freedoms you bring to our life.
